Reflections from Rachel Elliott

Today is our first day in Belize J.   We are so excited to be here and get to see how different Belize is than the United States.  Our group arrived a little bit later than expected, but we got off to a great start by getting to see the scenic roads that took us around the outskirts of Belize City.  It is very different than the United States in many ways.  The roads are winding and there are so many speed bumps.  The people are very friendly and speak good English.  They are very welcoming! We had a wonderful lunch Cheers.  Then we stopped at a really cool little shop called The Art Box.  We plan on making a stop back there to support the local Belize economy.  Then our group arrived at Cahal Pech, an amazing hotel that is accommodating our group tonight.  Many of us took a quick dip in the pool or rested in our hammocks before dinner.  We are dining at the hotel with an amazing view of Belize.   The weather is great; it’s hot with a nice breeze.  We are anxious to meet the students and staff at the two schools.  We just have one more day until we get to TEACH!
